Clans are a feature in Brawlhalla currently only available in the PC versions of the game. Any player with an account level of 15 or higher can create a clan with a unique clan name, and invite players to join their clan. Members of a clan will have their clan tag displayed under their name on the character select, match loading, and post match screens.

By default only 15 players can join a clan, but this can be expanded up to 50 players by leveling up the clan. Any player in a clan can contribute to the clan's level by playing matches. Clans have a level cap at level 100, but players can still earn more experience for the clan after this level. When looking at the clan menu, the player can see a leaderboard of who has contributed the most experience to their clan.

Ranks

There are four different ranks a player can be in a clan: Leader, Officer, Member, and Recruit.

Leader is the highest possible rank in a clan, and can only be held by one player. By default this is the creator of the clan, but they can chose to transfer this over to another player if they wish. The Leader can promote, demote and kick any player from the clan, regardless of rank.

Officers are the second highest possible rank. Similar to the Leader, they can promote Recruits, demote Members, kick both Recruits and Members, and change the clan's Message of the Day. However, Officers are not able to demote or kick other Officers.

Members and Recruits are the second-lowest and lowest possible ranks, respectively. They do not have any extra privileges like Officers and the Leader, and are only able to join/invite other online clan members and contribute experience to the clan.

Inviting Players

Players in a clan can invite anyone to their clan from their friends list or the Game Room menu (house icon in top right when in a lobby). This will give the target player an alert in the bottom left of their screen, which they can then accept or decline from the Notifications menu in the top right.

If a player is invited into a clan but is already in a different clan, a message will appear in the game chat: "<player> is already in a clan."

If a player is invited but isn't playing on PC, a different chat message will appear: "Target User not eligible for clan invites". The invited player will also receive no notifications about being invited.

Chat Commands

There are a few commands that can be used in the in-game chat for clans:

  • /c: Clan chat, used to communicate with other clan members.
  • /o: Officer chat, for members with the Officer rank to communicate between each other.
  • /motd: Allows the Leader to change the clan's Message of the Day. This message appears in the chat box on login.

Censorship/Banning

Similar to player names, players can have their clan name censored if it is found to be too innapropriate.

Clan names will typically be censored if they include text that goes against Ubisoft's EULA or Terms of Use, such as

  • Curse/swear words (in any language)
  • Bigotry
  • Offensive, violent, or explicit text
  • Threats, harassment, or mocking of others/public figures

Censored clan names will be replaced with asterisks. For example, if a clan was named "<Curses>" and is censored, it will now appear as "<******>".

Players are able to leave a censored clan, but the creator will be banned from making new clans for a period of time. This ban will last for either 24 hours, until the next patch, or permanently, depending on how severe the banned clan name was.

Trivia

  • When a clan member's rank is changed, a message will appear in the game chat describing who was promoted/demoted and by whom.
  • The clan icon still appears in the corner menu on Xbox Playstation Nintendo Switch consoles, but when selected simply shows the message "Clan Servers Offline".
  • A clan rank lower than Recruit exists, named "Unknown". This is likely just used as a failsafe, as while there exists text in the game files to "Demote to Unknown", there is no way to demote a player lower than Recruit.
