This guide is intended to help players with completing missions for the Season Nine Battle Pass. Note that this guide is mainly subjective; there is no one way to complete these missions.

General Missions

Mission Strategy
Neutral Signature KOs off the side of the screen

85 KOs total are needed for this mission.

This mission will progress over time, but can be done faster by playing FFA.

Some examples of Neutral Signatures that launch enemies toward the side include:

Double KOs

85 KOs total are needed for this mission.

The best mode for this is FFA since there are more opponents to KO.

Wait until your opponents are heavily damaged, and while they are fighting try to get them both in a single attack. Use attacks with heavy knockback that can hit multiple opponents at once, such as Lance side-air or Teros's Axe side-sig. Maps with close killboxes will also help, such as Fortress of the Lions.

Weekly Missions

Frequent Missions

These types of missions appear every week, and the strategy is similar for all of them.

Mission Strategy
KOs with specific Weapon

Simply play legends that use that weapon and you can progress this challenge over time.

If you do not feel like you are good at that weapon, you can try using a Legend who has another weapon you're more comfortable with. Once your opponent is low health, switch your weapon to the one for the challenge and KO your opponent.

Damage with specific Weapon This will complete over time if you play Legends who use that weapon. To speed up the process, play FFA and focus on only attacking with the specific weapon.

Week 1

Mission Strategy
Bouncy Bomb KOs

First, focus on making your opponent as low as possible without KOing them, using mainly light attacks with little or no knockback (Spear, Katars and Scythe are good for this). Make sure to hit them a bit more if they are playing a high defense Legend.

Next, throw away your weapon and find your Bouncy Bomb. It can be hard to land bomb throws sometimes, so you can try angling your throw slightly upward - this will make it easier to catch again if it doesn't hit. You can also try throwing the bomb point blank, as it doesn't matter if you are hit by the blast.

If you are attempting to progress this in Ranked 1v1 or 2v2, make sure Gadgets are enabled in the lobby settings.

Dash-Jump into Gravity-Canceled Signature Attack hits

Look for a time when your opponent is airborne, such as when they are recovering from the side of the stage, and make your attack then.

Any Gravity-Canceled Signature can work with this mission, however you may find more success with Signatures that have a long cast time or a large attack radius, as there is a higher chance it'll catch an enemy. This includes attacks like Queen Nai's Katars NSig, Thatch's Sword DSig, Loki's Scythe SSig, or Xull's Cannon NSig.

You may find this easier to progress in FFA, as the chaotic nature of the mode means more opponents will be airborne and easy to hit.

Disarm opponents Disarming an opponent occurs when they drop their weapon after taking too much force and damage. This happens fairly often in matches, especially in FFA, so these missions will naturally progress over time.

Week 2

Mission Strategy
Dodge Aerial Attacks This can be progressed quickly with a passive and floaty playstyle. Stay mid-air for as long as you can, baiting your opponent to use an aerial on you. Only use jumps and recoveries to stay airborne, and keep your dodge for when they attack you.

Note that this strategy will likely make your opponents find you extremely annoying.

Interrupt opponent Ground Pound Attacks This will likely be easier to complete in FFA, as opponents will be trying to ground pound other players. Look for a time when the fight takes place on the side of the stage (as people will be more likely to ground pound), and use aerial attacks to interrupt them.
Recovery Attack KOs

Any weapon can work with this, however some weapons have useful combos to secure a Recovery KO. One easy combo is Sword down-light into Recovery (while still holding forward) - this KOs most of the time at higher damage.

Other than combos, this is mostly up to catching your opponent while they are high damage mid-air. Any weapon can work for this, however it is important to note the Hammer is the only Recovery that sends your opponent downward, so you may like to use this to KO enemies off the edge.

Week 3

Mission Strategy
Hit twice with the same Spike Ball This is easiest to do in FFA. Simply throw a Spike Ball at a nearby opponent, then once it hits, pick it up and throw it again. It's better to only use weak throws, so that the Spike Ball doesn't get thrown off the stage.
Grounded Light Attack damage While this will progress naturally, using the Greatsword will speed up progress as its finishers deal more damage.
Hit with 5 different Signature Attacks in a match This is easiest done in FFA. Hit all your signatures with one weapon, then change weapons and hit the rest.

Week 4

Mission Strategy
Win matches with the current Battle Pass Color Scheme The more you progress in the Battle Pass the easier this will be, as you'll have more Legends you can chose to win with (and more likely to get one with weapons you're good at).
Get KOs within the first 30 seconds of a match Use Legends that you are most comfortable at being aggressive with. You will have to do a lot of damage within a short period of time, so give your opponent no chance to dodge or run away. Depending on how confident you are, you may not want to do this in Ranked or Experimental 1v1, as in other modes you are more likely to match up against someone with lower overall skill than you.
Aerial Heavy Attack damage Aerial Heavy Attacks are Recoveries and Ground Pounds, so spam these in FFA matches to progress the challenge quickly. Any weapon will work for this, but you may like to use the Spear for its wide range attacks.

Week 5

Mission Strategy
Boomerang hits This is easiest to do in FFA, as there are more players to be hit by your Boomerang. Make sure to catch it when it comes back so you can throw it some more.
Hit opponents 3 times while airborne

You must get three hits while airborne in a row WITHOUT touching the ground or a wall. There is no best weapon to use for this mission, but you will want to have a different approach depending on what kind of weapon you use.

Weapons like the Rocket Lance, Cannon and Scythe excel at pressuring opponents off stage with aggressive combos, with the former two weapons having lots of horizontal mobility to keep you airborne. These are good options if you're familiar with these weapons' combos and are confident in off-stage combat.

Weapons like the Katars and Greatsword are good options for opponents at low damage (taking less knockback). For both weapons, you can start with a Recovery and quickly follow with a Neutral Aerial; then just try to follow your opponent's dodge to land a third hit.

Weapons like the Sword and Blasters have easy true-combos that can get you 2 easy airborne hits. For both weapons, start with a gravity-cancelled Down Light into a Side Aerial - this gives you two easy hits, so all you have to do is search for a third one.

Other than weapon choice, this is probably easiest in FFA as there are multiple enemies you can hit. Make sure to use all your kit, including chase dodges and even letting your enemies hit you to regain jumps.

Emote last This is easiest to do in a 1v1 match - if you hit your opponent with a final killing blow, emote before they get KO'd.

Week 6

Mission Strategy
Hit multiple opponents with Signature Attacks This can be completed very easily in FFA with moving signatures or signatures with long range, like Mako's Greatsword Side sig and both of Orion's Side sigs.
Punish Dodges with Signature Attacks You need to hit opponents right after they have dodged. This will progress over time, but is faster in chaotic modes like FFA and Friendly 2v2, as there are more players to punish.
Punish Dodges with Light Attacks

Week 7

Mission Strategy
Hit opponents with airborne Pressure Mines You can either throw the Pressure Mine at an upward angle, allowing you to catch it again if it does not hit, or try to throw point-blank at an enemy to instantly hit them.
Interrupt opponent Recovery Attacks with Ground Pounds

This is best done when your opponent is attempting to recover from the side of stage. Keep track of when they are out of jumps, and try to predict when they will use a recovery attack so you can ground pound them.

You may also find more success with certain weapons' ground pounds than others. Gauntlets are a good choice, as you can move left and right during the ground pound, and so are ground pounds with far reach such as the Orb.

Week 8

Mission Strategy
Interrupt opponent Signatures with Signatures

This is best done in FFA, as there will be more opponents using their signatures at a time. Use signature attacks that will grounded players, as that's where most players will be charging their signatures. Since players typically do not charge signatures for long, use signature attacks that charge up quickly.

Additionally you don't want to get hit by your opponent's signature, so it's best to use signatures where the attack is in front of the player, such as Lord Vraxx's Lance side sig, to give yourself some protection.

Perform 3 Weapon throws within 2.5 seconds This can easily be done in a 1v1 when your opponent is knocked out: once a new weapon drop spawns, throw your weapon upward, pickup the new weapon and throw it too, then pick back up your original weapon and throw it again.

Week 9

Mission Strategy
KO opponents off the left side of the screen This will complete over time. When your opponent is low or to the side of the stage, focus attacks that will knock them further to the side - for example, side aerials and most side Signatures.
KO opponents off the right side of the screen This will complete over time. When your opponent is low or to the side of the stage, focus attacks that will knock them further to the side - for example, side aerials and most side Signatures.

Week 10

Mission Strategy
KO opponents off the top of the screen This will complete over time. When your opponent is close to getting KO'd, focus attacks that knock upwards - for example, recovery attacks, Sword neutral aerial, and Signatures like Koji's Bow neutral-sig or Jhala's Sword neutral-sig.
KO opponents off the bottom of the screen This will complete over time. When your opponent is off the edge, focus attacks that knock downwards - for example, ground pounds, Blasters down aerial, and Signatures like Nix's Blaster neutral-sig.

Week 11

Mission Strategy
Sidekick Summoner Flyby hits This is easiest on FFA, as there are more players to hit with your sidekick.
Deal damage by Chase-Dodging into Attacks Chase dodges can only be performed after attacking an opponent, so you must attack them, chase dodge, and attack again. This may be easier in modes like FFA or Friendly 2v2 as you could chase dodge and attack a different opponent than the one you hit first.
KO with both a Ground Pound and a Recovery Attack in the same match The best strategy for this mission is to choose a Legend with a weapon that has a strong Recovery and Ground Pound. A good option is Gnash; his Hammer can easily KO opponents with both attacks relatively early, and combined with his Spear he has a very wide range of attack for both moves. Most weapons have reasonably good KO potential, however, so any weapon can work for this mission.

Week 12

Mission Strategy
Interrupt opponent Light Attacks with Light Attacks This will progress over time, though is likely easiest to progress by interrupting grounded light attacks with aerial light attacks, as you'll be out of the way of your opponent's attack.
First Strikes

"First Strikes" are the first KO in the match.

This is easiest done in 1v1 modes, simply requiring you to get the first KO. If you think you'll get KO'd first, you can purposefully fall off - this won't count as the First Strike, and will give you more health to safely KO your opponent.

Gravity-canceled KOs with different Weapons This is easiest done in FFA, using Signatures that have a large radius of effect or high knockback.
