Timed
|
Timed matches are one of the gamemodes in Brawlhalla. It is most notably available for play in the Free-for-All matchmaking mode.
Mechanics
In the Timed gamemode, the match is set to last for a certain duration. This is by default set to 3 minutes, but can be up to 15 minutes. For the duration of the match players are attempting to get the most points.
There are two modes of scoring: "Classic" and "Modern", added in patch 9.08. Modern is currently the scoring mode used in Free-for-All.
The person with the most points by the end of the match wins. By default matches will consist of 4 players, but can be set up to 8 players in custom matches.
If more than one player has the same score when the match timer ends, they will enter Sudden Death, where each player has a high amount of damage set. The last player standing in Sudden Death wins the match.
Additionally, there is an option in custom matches to set a score to win, anywhere from 2 to 50 points. This is disabled by default.
Classic
In Classic, scoring works as follows:
- Earning a KO will grant the player +2 points.
- Getting KO'd will cause the player to lose -1 point.
- Players lose -3 points if they accidentally fall off the map.
- Players lose -2 points if they kill their teammate. Currently, due to a bug, the teammate does not lose -1 point like usual.
Modern
In Modern, scoring works as follows:
- Earning a KO will grant the player +5 points.
- Hitting an attack will grant the player + points. Points gained this way are not immediately granted. Instead, they are added up until the player is no longer in an attack. At that point, the point count is rounded to the nearest integer, and added to the player's total score.
- Using a Sidekick Summoner will grant the player +1 points.
- Passing a Sticky Bomb will grant the player +1 points.
- When the leading player (or the player from the leading team, if teams are on) accidently falls off the map, every other player (not on their team) is granted + points.
There are also certain mechanics intended to narrow the gap between players:
- When a player is KO'd, their respawn is delayed, based on their score and the lowest player's score. This delay is equal to seconds, where s is their score and ms is the lowest score between all players. When there are only 2 players, this mechanic is currently bugged and does not work.
- When a player respawns, the length of their respawn invincibility is reduced. This reduction is equal to seconds.
- When a player respawns, an item is spawned above them. This item can be either a weapon or a gadget - this is random and weighted by their spawn rate.
- When the player with the lowest score is more than 30 points behind the second-lowest, they gain the following advantages:
- When they respawn, a gadget is also spawned to their left. If gadgets are turned off, a weapon is spawned instead.
- Every 10 seconds since they respawn, if they aren't holding an item, an item is spawned above them, similarly to when they respawn (but this time, a gadget isn't spawned to their left).
