Strategy/Completing Season Eight Missions
This guide is intended to help players with completing missions for the Season Eight Battle Pass. Note that this guide is mainly subjective; there is no one way to complete these missions.
General Missions
Mission | Strategy |
---|---|
Spike opponents into oblivion with Signature Attacks |
115 KOs total are needed for this mission. This mission will progress over time, but can be done faster by playing FFA. When going for a spike KO, wait until your opponent is at high damage, as they need to still be stunned when they fall off the map. Then, once they are near a ledge, hit them with a Signature that will launch them downwards. Many Signatures can spike opponents downward, but to give a few examples: |
Launch opponents into orbit with Signature Attacks |
275 KOs total are needed for this mission. This mission will progress over time, but can be done faster by playing FFA. Launching an opponent off the top of the screen is fairly easy, as most signatures will do this at high damage. Almost all Legends have a Signature that can launch upward. For example: |
Weekly Missions
Frequent Missions
These types of missions appear every week, and the strategy is similar for all of them.
Mission | Strategy |
---|---|
KOs with specific Weapon |
Simply play legends that use that weapon and you can progress this challenge over time. If you do not feel like you are good at that weapon, you can try using a Legend who has another weapon you're more comfortable with. Once your opponent is low health, switch your weapon to the one for the challenge and KO your opponent. |
Light Attack Damage with specific Weapon | This will complete over time if you play Legends who use that weapon. To speed up the process, play FFA and focus on only using light attacks with the specific weapon. |
Heavy Attack Damage with specific Weapon | This will complete over time if you play Legends who use that weapon. To speed up the process, play FFA and focus on only using signatures with the specific weapon. |
Week 1
Mission | Strategy |
---|---|
Get KOs with Neutral Light Attacks |
This is easiest done with Greatsword, as Greatsword Light Finisher attacks are the highest knockback light attacks. While most weapons can deal enough knockback to KO with neutral light, do not use Blasters, Katars, or Scythe - these all have fixed knockback and typically will not KO. |
KOs off the bottom with Weapons that were thrown upward |
This mission can be somewhat tricky, as you will need to take into account the travel time for throwing your weapon upward. It's typically easier to hit a weapon throw with a longer weapon, like Spear or Rocket Lance. The best time to try to progress this is when your opponent is returning to the side of the stage; if they are out of jumps and dodges, they will have a harder time missing your weapon throw. Keep in mind that the longer a throw is charged, the more knockback it will perform, but the longer it will take to fall. You may also find some success in FFA; if your opponents are occupied fighting each other, they may not see your weapon throw and have a harder time reacting to it. This is especially true on maps that have tight pits, for example, the side of the main stage on Crystal Temple and Tree Fort. Additionally, while somewhat unorthodox, you may be so lucky to find someone else doing the same mission and who is willing to help you. Diagonal upward throws do not seem to count for this mission. |
Win matches as Legends brought to Valhalla by Brynn |

Week 2
Mission | Strategy |
---|---|
Get KOs with Side Light Attacks |
This is easiest done with Greatsword, as Greatsword Light Finisher attacks are the highest knockback light attacks. Other than the Greatsword, Scythe's active side light can also work for this mission. Other weapons do not have enough knockback with their side lights to KO. |
Get KOs with different types of Gravity-canceled Signatures |
This can be quickly done in FFA by gravity-cancelling near the ground and using Signatures with wide range. |
Week 3
Mission | Strategy |
---|---|
Win matches with Legends who never read anything before arriving at Valhalla |
Legends that work for this mission: |
Get KOs with Down Light Attacks |
This is easiest done with Greatsword, as Greatsword Light Finisher attacks are the highest knockback light attacks. Scythe's active down light can also deal enough knockback to secure a KO. |
Deal 250 damage each with 2 Weapons in a match | This is easiest done in FFA - get a lot of damage with one weapon, then half way through the map switch weapons and do it again. |
Week 4
Mission | Strategy |
---|---|
Replace Daily Missions | This can be done once a day. |
Slide-charged Signature KOs | If you want to do this mission quickly, play FFA and focus on using these attacks. Otherwise, you can try to incorporate the attacks into your playstyle and progress the mission over time. Signatures with a large radius of effect work best for this mission. |
Play rematches |
Rematches can be played if all players agree to it after a Ranked, Experimental 1v1, or Friendly 2v2 match. It is easier to get rematches in 1v1 modes as you will only have one enemy that needs to accept the rematch. |
Week 5
Mission | Strategy |
---|---|
Play a custom match through the public room browser | This can be accessed through the "Custom Game Room" menu. |
Win 2v2 matches | This can be done somewhat quicker through Friendly 2v2s, since you don't need to queue with a partner and you can't damage your teammate - this makes games more chaotic and end faster. |
Grab the other team's initial Weapon spawn | In a 2v2 mode, focus on going to the enemy team's side and grabbing their weapon. If you can, try to remember where the weapon spawn is depending on the map, as different maps will have weapons spawn at different heights. |
Week 6
Mission | Strategy |
---|---|
Get KOs within the first 30 seconds of a match | Use Legends that you are most comfortable at being aggressive with. You will have to do a lot of damage within a short period of time, so give your opponent no chance to dodge or run away. Depending on how confident you are, you may not want to do this in Ranked or Experimental 1v1, as in other modes you are more likely to match up against someone with lower overall skill than you. |
Perform Team Combos | This can be done easily in Friendly 2v2s as you can't hit your teammate. As long as you hit an enemy who is stunned by your teammate's attack, it will count as a team combo. Focus attacking the same enemy your teammate and this will progress quickly. |
Win consecutive matches | Just win. Alongside standard matchmaking, Brawl of the Week and Season Ranked Queue also work for this mission. |
Week 7
Mission | Strategy |
---|---|
Slide-charged Emotes | To Slide-Charge an Emote, run toward the edge of a platform and Emote late enough that your momentum carries you over the edge of the platform. |
Get KOs with Neutral Air Attacks | Cannon and Hammer are the best options as they hit hard with heavy knockback. Bow, Greatsword, and Sword are viable too, but don't have as much force. Other weapons either have not enough force or are too situational to get a KO after a dash-jump. |
Win matches as Legends with "bot" in their bot name |
Legends that count for this mission: |
Gravity-canceled KOs with different Weapons | This is easiest done in FFA, using Signatures that have a large radius of effect or high knockback. |
Week 8
Mission | Strategy |
---|---|
Get KOs with Side Air Attacks | Axe, Lance, and Hammer are the best options, however all weapons have strong enough aerial Side Lights to secure a KO after a dash-jump. Try to look for when your opponent has no more dodges or jumps, as even if they don't get knocked far enough to get KO'd you can still earn one if they can't return to the stage. |
Win matches with Legends that have traveled through Outer Space |
Legends that count for this mission: |
Get 4 KOs in a match | This mission can't be done in 1v1 modes, as each player will only have 3 stocks. This will be easiest to do in FFA; since it is a timed mode, there are more opportunities to get KOs. |
Week 9
Mission | Strategy |
---|---|
Disarm opponents with Light Attacks | Disarming is knocking the weapon out of an opponents hand after they've taken a lot of damage and force. This happens fairly often in matches, especially in FFA, so these missions will naturally progress over time. |
Get KOs with Down Air Attacks | This is easiest to do when your opponent is on the edge of a stage. Weapons like the Sword, Axe, Gauntlets and Blasters have good force and are easy to use, hitting directly underneath you. The Orb is also good as it can hit diagonally downward, but also bounce off walls to hit an enemy right under you.
You can also try the Hammer as it is the only weapon with an aerial down light that launches your opponent upwards, meaning you don't need to be on the edge of a stage to get a KO. |
KO opponents at least 3 more times than you get KO'd | In 1v1 modes, this would require you to get 3 KOs without getting KO'd once. You may find it easier to do this in FFA as you can get more than 3 KOs, giving you more leeway if you get KO'd. |
Week 10
Mission | Strategy |
---|---|
Grab Weapons as they're being carried by your Sidekick | This can be done easily in FFA by scouting for Sidekick Summoners, using it on one side of the map and picking up your weapon before it's dropped. |
Slide-charged Damage | This can be done easily with moving signatures like Mako's Greatsword Side sig. |
Win matches without getting KO'd more than once | Use Legends that you are most comfortable with or that have high Defense. It helps to play somewhat passively to observe your opponent's dodge and attack patterns. |
Week 11
Mission | Strategy |
---|---|
Disarm opponents with Heavy Attacks | Disarming an opponent is when they drop their weapon after taking too much force and damage. This occurs in most matches, and will simply progress over time. |
Interrupt opponent Ground Pound Attacks | This will likely be easier to complete in FFA, as opponents will be trying to ground pound other players. Look for a time when the fight takes place on the side of the stage (as people will be more likely to ground pound), and use aerial attacks to interrupt them. |
Hit multiple opponents with Signature Attacks | This can be completed very easily in FFA with moving signatures or signatures with long range, like Mako's Greatsword Side sig and both of Orion's Side sigs. |
